Adventure Racing With A Purpose: Live On The Edge

When I first started racing I wondered- why? I mean I loved to race and thought it was a fantastic ministry by earning the right to be heard, but I still needed a purpose.

Just before I left for Primal Quest a friend brought me a brochure of XMA- adventure with a purpose. I was intrigued. After reading, I was in.

This organization does a lot of humanitarian work. Now that is not unusual, but they do it in areas that are had to get to. This means you must hike for miles, or perhaps paddle a boat, or even ride a bike. This seemed perfect. Randy Pierce the founder was coming to town the week after I called him and we met. He told me about an opportunity in Slovenia.

Initially, I didn't want to go there. Now, do not get me wrong this is a paradise. I didn't feel like it would be a real mission trip and I have a heart for children in the remote villages. But after prayer, and talking more with Randy this is where I am to go.

This is an exciting trip as we'll adventure race while "earning the right to be heard." The Slovenians have a .4% population of Christians. It is a hard place to minister, but one that will be exciting and rewarding. And the best part: We still need teammates to go with us. The highlight of the trip will be participating in the Slovenian Adventure Race.

The trip looks like this.

Duration 7- 10 days

1) Slovenia Adventure Race: Team members will volunteer or race in this race.

2) In days leading up to the race, we will prayer walk, and do literature evangelism.

3) Earn the right to be heard: Team members will race or volunteer for this adventure race. Our goal is to race well, to earn the right to come back and be more involved through Adventure Racing Camps. We'll have teams there to win, and teams there to finish. Cost- $3000: This includes transportation, airfare, race fees and lodging. Fund Raising- XMA has some ways for you to raise funds for your trip.

I'd really like to see us bring several teams for XMA and be a heavy presence there. If you'd like to do the adventure race, or just volunteer let me know. There is a place for all levels of racers. Though I am looking to put together a team to win as well.

I will help put teams together so you do not need to register a full team, we just need you to volunteer. XMA needs you!

Please let your church know about us. We can even come speak if you'd like. If you cannot make this trip, consider another one. XMA goes every month, that will push you physically and spiritually.
